About Elk Composite Building Products, Inc.

Advanced Composite Technologies was founded in Kansas City in 1999, with a vision of converting single source recycled wood and high grade plastic into a premium high strength composite material. Company founders recognized the desire for better quality, low maintenance, long lasting alternatives to traditional lumber used in outdoor applications. Wood/plastic composites had the ability to fulfill these requirements.

After nearly two years of extensive research and development, the company created a product with a unique combination of oak "flour" and polypropylene plastic. This product formula provided a stronger composite lumber than most other competitors products utilizing a combination of wood and polyethylene. Initially marketed in the Midwest as PermaLumber™, the product was met with strong consumer acceptance. The line was streamlined and the product brand name was changed to CrossTimbers™ composite lumber. The CrossTimbers product line is being marketed under the strong, widely respected and recognized Elk brand name.

Installation Using Face Fastening Method

Only use stainless steel or ceramic coated Number 8, 2 1/4 inch deck screws. See installation instructions for complete details.
Installation Using EZ-Build™ Fasteners

CrossTimbers' EZ-Build concealed fastener decking system makes deck construction a snap. CrossTimbers decking boards have a grooved edge. Installation is as simple as slipping a clip into this edge and screwing it into a joist running perpendicular to the decking. The process is repeated across the full width of the deck until each board is secured. Boards are automatically spaced to allow for 1/8" drainage gap. Construction is fast and simple as all work is performed from the top of the deck.

EZ-Build Clip Fastener system

The EZ-Build fastening package comes with 500 EZ Build Clips, 500 Stainless Steel 1 5/8" trim head screws, one drill bit and application instructions.
