Microllam® Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL) is made by laminating thin layers of veneer together in parallel alignment. This structural building material is larger and more consistent than even select solid lumber. Pieces can be produced that are 4' wide, 3-1/2" thick and up to 80' long without the conventional problems of warping, shrinking and splitting.
Due to its superior strength, Microllam® LVL actually yields 50 percent more structural value per cubic foot of raw material than solid-sawn lumber
Consistency is one of the greatest strengths of Microllam® LVL. Unlike solid-sawn lumber, you can count on the same ideal moisture content and strength from one end of the lumber to the other - and from one board to the next. Twisting and splitting due to uneven moisture content are things of the past
