Discuss unusual truss configurations with a fabricator. Provide the truss fabricator with a complete set of plans or the following information:
The length of the bottom chord (nominal span).
The horizontal distance from the end of the bottom chord to the bottom edge of the top chord.
Number of trusses required. (Trusses are most often spaced at 400 or 600mm (16" or 24") centers).
Top and bottom chord live and dead loads.
Type of cut for the end of the top chord.
Type of gable end if applicable.
Roof Slope.
Soffit framing detail.
Type of truss required.
Special requirements such as cantilevers and girders.
Request and review shop drawings.
